Mark Armenante, Chairman
Mark Armenante is Chairman of Verticals onDemand.
Prior to founding Verticals onDemand, Mark spent over 10 years with Siebel Systems. Mark was Siebel's first Vice President of Sales and held several Group Vice President roles managing Alliances, Operations, and Siebel's OnDemand division. Prior to Siebel, he was President of PharmaSystems, Inc., an early innovator in pharmaceutical sales force management. PharmaSystems automated sales forces at Ciba-Geigy, Sandoz, Warner Lambert, Schering-Plough and other pharmaceutical manufacturers. Mark joined Oracle in 1987 to form the Pharmaceutical vertical sales organization in addition to other pioneering vertical product lines. Prior to Oracle Corporation Mark spent seven years with Information Resources, Inc., as Senior Vice President, Sales which served the Consumer Products and Pharmaceutical Industries.

Gordon Ritter, Director
Gordon Ritter is a Founder and General Partner of Emergence. He has spent over 15 years building companies which pioneered new markets including embedded web-based interfaces, server appliances, "On Demand" services for the SMB market and web-native application development. He led Emergence Capital's first investment, in the On Demand leader Salesforce.com . Gordon was named to the Forbes' Midas List of the top venture capital investors in 2007. He currently sits on the boards of Genius, Ketera, Lithium, PivotLink and SmartTurn.
Prior to founding Emergence, Gordon was co-Founder and CEO of Software As Service, a Web services platform company he created with Marc Benioff, the Chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com. Software As Service is the origin of Salesforce.com's Force.com platform. Prior to forming Software As Service, he was Vice President of the $3 billion IBM Global Small Business division, created as a result of IBM's acquisition of his company, Whistle Communications in 1999. Gordon's division was responsible for partnerships with dozens of technology-enabled service companies as part of IBM's On Demand computing strategy. He led IBM's launch partnership with Salesforce.com. Prior to IBM, Gordon was co-Founder and President of Whistle, a pioneering Internet appliance and services platform for small and medium-sized businesses. Gordon has a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University. |
Young Sohn, Director
Young Sohn is a twenty-five year veteran of the software industry and is a Director of Verticals onDemand.
Young was the founder and CEO of Nomadic Systems which was acquired by Siebel Systems to form the basis of the Siebel Life Sciences Division. She ran that division as its General Manager until early 2001. Under her leadership, the Siebel Life Sciences Division became a clear market leader and a thought leader in the pharmaceutical CRM space. Prior to Nomadic Systems, Young held an executive management position at PharmaSystems. PharmaSystems was an early innovator in pharmaceutical sales force automation that provided solutions for Ciba- Geigy, Sandoz and Schering-Plough among other pharmaceutical manufacturers. Previously, Young spent six years at Oracle Corporation in the Pharmaceutical vertical organization.

Jeff Amann, Director
Mr. Amann was previously with Siebel Systems, Inc. (now part of Oracle Corporation), which he joined in 1996 and helped build into an industry leader with more than $1.4 billion in revenue. Mr. Amann oversaw Siebel's worldwide legal affairs as General Counsel and a member of the company's executive management committee. He helped guide the company through its initial and secondary public offerings, and successfully closed more than 20 acquisitions on behalf of Siebel – including its $5.8 billion sale to Oracle Corporation in 2006. He also helped Siebel expand its operations to approximately 5,000 employees in more than 30 countries worldwide, and helped the company build one of the largest patent portfolios in its industry.

Kevin Spain, Director
Kevin is a Principal and Kauffman Fellow at Emergence Capital Partners. His deep knowledge of the enterprise and consumer technology sectors comes from time spent at blue-chip software companies and from his experience as an entrepreneur.
Prior to joining Emergence, Kevin was a senior member of Microsoft's Corporate Development group. In this role, he shared responsibility for sourcing, structuring, and negotiating Microsoft's acquisitions, strategic investments, and joint ventures. Under his leadership, Kevin's team participated in over $500 million in transactions spanning all of Microsoft's business groups. Prior to Microsoft, Kevin was with Electronic Arts, where he was a member of the team that launched EA's online gaming business. Today, Electronic Arts operates several of the most popular online gaming destinations in the world. Later, Kevin served in Electronic Arts' Corporate Development group, where he helped manage the Company's acquisition and strategic investment efforts.
Kevin earned an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
